FQ Metro’s U14 Boys side handed Football SA Red their third straight loss of the 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships with a resounding 12-1 win on Tuesday morning.
With both sides still looking for their first win of the Championships, FQ Metro started on the front foot and took the lead in the first five minutes.
After Football SA Red turned the ball over in their own half, Metro’s Bailey Brandtman smashed the ball past the keeper to give Metro the perfect start.
Just minutes later, Cristian Cartisano added their second after a great pass across court found him unmarked at the back post.
Elijah Eustace earned himself a yellow card after back-chatting to the referee but that didn’t stop Metro’s momentum as they dominate the first half.
Jack Maher got on the scoresheet moments later after his quick feet danced around two defenders before bending the ball into the back post, before adding another three minutes later.
With just 90 seconds to go in the first half, Kainoa Mcgilchrist scored Metro’s fifth.
Just a minute into the second half, Metro extended their lead as an unmarked Elijah Eustace tapped the ball into the net.
Football SA Red didn’t let their heads drop and moments later had their first goal of the game and just the third goal of the Championships. Metro’s keeper fumbled the ball, allowing Ethan Allison to smash the ball home.
Quick fire goals from Metro’s Cartiasano, Maher, Mark Shaw, Kaidin Dawson and Jett Wouters extended the lead to double figures. Despite the onslaught, Football SA Red’s captain Kai Blomeley was outstanding in defence, snuffing out chance after chance from FQ Metro.
