FQ Metro have drawn 2-2 with Football SA after a second-half comeback in the U15 Girls competition of the 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships.
FQ Metro started the stronger of the two teams and had multiple opportunities to convert but SA keeper Elyshia Ogston was up to the challenge.
As the halfway mark approached neither team seemed to gain any ground, as the game continued to be a back and forth contest.
Alysha Kelly gave FQ their best look but was unable to convert, as her shot just scraped the outside of the post.
Despite FQ’s dominance, it would be SA who scored first off of a powerful shot from Anastasia Willoughby.
SA started the second half looking more confident than in the first with multiple shot attempts.
This confidence would pay off as Willoughby would break through FQs defence and sprint down the end of the court to calmly slot the ball past the keeper.
FQ would quickly respond with a goal of their own coming from Elly Rowell making the game 2-1.
The game heated up quickly as Maya Wiltsche powered the ball through into the net, tying the game for FQ 2-2.
Just as both teams started to find their rhythm, FQ suffered a vital blow as Rowell faced an injury that resulted in her being carried off the court.
Both teams had multiple opportunities for a game-winner but both keepers provided to be too quick defensively, denying these attempts.
Despite FQ’s late comeback the game ended in a 2-2 tie with SA.
