Metro FQ have defeated Football West Black Swans 3-2 after overcoming a 2-0 deficit in the U16s Boys competition at the National Futsal Championships

WA scored first with Kylan Watson beating the goalkeeper to an open goal for an easy tap in. Jacob Forsyth quickly added to WA’s lead with a long range shot from across the court.

WA continued to dominate the match and have majority of the chances in the opening 10 minutes. Against the run of play, Metro FQ struck with a powerful shot from Jacob Lombardo which smashed past the keeper.

The game quickly became 2-2 as Metro FQ scored another goal from Caelen Cook, who like his teammate scored with power and from range.

Metro FQ quickly regained some confidence becoming more aggressive and attacking WA’s defence and they took the lead thanks to Jayden Emery. Despite the two early goals, Metro FQ ended the half with a 3-2 lead.

The second half began at a frenetic pace, as both teams tried to add to the scoresheet.

A yellow card was given to WA’s Trent Coehn leading to an unsuccessful free kick from Jayden Emery, as WA filled the goal with defenders.

Metro FQ had multiple opportunities to extend their lead towards the end of the half but were unable to do so due to an excellent Brendon Brassington in goals.

Brandon Cummins had the best chance to equalise for WA but his shot didn’t trouble the keeper.

With two wins from their opening two matches, Metro FQ’s comeback win shows the rest of the competition that they are not a team to underestimate going forward.
