Open AWD Mixed – FNSW Thunder v Queensland Metro

In a highly entertaining game, the FNSW Thunder defeated Queensland Metro 9-2.

The Thunder had the lead after five minutes with Bradley Southwell weaving his magic before playing in Blake Eagleson who blasted his effort into the back of the net.

Southwell and Eagleson continued to create problems for Queensland while Liam Glavas pulled off some top class saves.

Abigayle Gabriel-Metta and Joshua Long were impressive for the Metro side.

But it was soon 2-0 as Eagleson and Southwell combined again with the latter finishing well.

Straight after the break Thunder made it three as Southwell found the back of the net for the second time.

And only a minute later, Southwell completed his hat-trick with a neat finish to extend the lead to 4-0.

The goals kept coming as Eagleson picked up his brace to make it 5-0.

Rocco Musumeci was next to get his name on the scoresheet, getting on the end of an Eagleson pass.

Queensland pulled one back through Garbriel-Metta but shortly after the Thunder scored again to make it 7-2.

Long showed some class, beating his defender and placing the ball into the back of the net to get another back for Metro.

The Southwell-Eagleson combination continued with Eagleson picking up his hat-trick.

Southwell added another to his tally as the Thunder extended their lead to 9-2.
