U 13 Girls – FNSW Lighting v FNSW Thunder

In a nine-goal thriller, the FNSW Thunder scored late to secure the grand final, winning 5-4.

Ella Abdul Massih had the first shot in anger for the Thunder, forcing the keeper into a smart save.

Smart play by Avaani Prakash saw her beat her defender down the left before crossing the ball in for Adelaide Wyrzynski who tapped the ball in.

Less than a minute later, Abdul Massih had Thunder on level turns.

But Lightning were back in front when a well worked set piece had Prakash on the end of it, flicking the ball into the back of the net.

Set pieces were the go to for the Thunder as they soon made it three, Wyrzynski bagging her second of the game.

Thunder cut the deficit to one with a set piece of their own, Abdul Massih firing passed the keeper with a powerful effort.

Just as the second half started, we were back at square one, Daniella Naeimi making it 3-3.

Again the Lightning hit the front and again it was a set piece Chelsea Burton finding the back of the net.

The end to end action continued and for a third time in the game, the Thunder equalised, Tahlia Voskanian making it 4-4.

For the first time in the game, the Thunder hit the front with five minutes remaining, India Breier somehow finding the back of the net from a tight angle.
