2024 National Futsal Championships Day 2 Wrap

Day 2 of the 2024 National Futsal Championships lived up to all expectations as teams started to flex their muscles and the top players across the country showcased their flair.

476 goals were scored across 63 thrilling matches, as Football NSW recorded the highest win percentage for the day with a 54% success rate, closely followed by Football Queensland who won 52% of their matches.

In Pool A of the Under 12 Boys, Football Queensland Maroon kick started their campaign with two strong victories against Victoria and NSW Lightning, while Football NSW Country overcame Capital Football in a 17-goal thriller. In Pool B, Football Queensland White maintained their 100% start to the tournament beating Football SA, while Football NSW Thunder recorded two impressive wins over Football SA and Football West. 

In the Under 13 Boys, Football Queensland remain the only unbeaten side in the group after beating Victoria and drawing against Football NSW Metro today. Football West, Football NSW Country, Football Victoria and Capital Football also recorded wins. 

Pool A of the Under 13 Girls saw Football NSW Thunder continue their winning streak after they beat Football West in a 10-goal thriller, while Football NSW Country recorded a strong win over Football SA Blue to keep their Finals hopes alive. In Pool B, Capital Football and Football Queensland Maroon picked up their second victory of the tournament to remain undefeated, while Football NSW Lightning put in a dominant performance against Football SA Red, before the South Australian’s went on to edge out Football Victoria 5-4.

In Pool A of the Under 14 Boys, Football NSW Country and Football Queensland continued their unbeaten start to the campaign recording victories against Football SA and Football NSW Lightning respectively. In Pool B, Football West stay top of the ladder after beating Capital Football, as Football NSW Thunder defeated Victoria.  

Capital Football moved to the top of the table in the Under 15 Boys after beating Football West and Football NSW Country, while Football Queensland recorded a strong victory over Tasmania and a draw against Football NSW Metro to keep them in second spot. Football SA edged out Football NSW Country in a 5-goal thriller, before going on to draw against Tasmania. 

In the Under 15 Girls, Football SA maintained their 100% record after beating Football NSW Country, while Football NSW Thunder and Capital Football also recorded strong victories today. Football NSW Lightning also defeated Football Queensland to keep their Finals hopes alive. 

The Under 16 Boys is shaping up to be one of the closest pools with just one point separating first from fourth. Football Queensland moved to the top after beating Football NSW Metro and drawing against Victoria, while Football NSW Country picked up two strong victories against Tasmania and Football SA. Football Tasmania beat Victoria and Football NSW Metro defeated Football SA.

Football NSW Metro's Under 17 Girls side maintained their unbeaten record and remain top of the table after beating Football Queensland, while Capital Football recorded a strong victory over Football NSW Country. Football SA and Victoria battled hard for 1-1 draw. 

In the Youth Men, Football NSW Lightning and Thunder both recorded double victories to remain undefeated, while Football Queensland picked up their first win of the tournament in a 9-goal thriller against Capital Football.

In Pool A of the Open Women, Football Victoria Fitzroy beat Football NSW Thunder to move top of the ladder, while Football Queensland Maroon opened their account with a victory over Capital Football Colts. In Pool B, Football NSW Lightning and Capital Football Cobras remain unbeaten after beating Football Victoria Evolution and Football Queensland White respectively. 

In Pool A of the Open Men, Football Victoria Moreland edged out Football Queensland in a narrow 1-0 win, while Football NSW Lightning and Football West Freemantle played out a fascinating 1-1 draw. In Pool B, Football NSW Thunder continued their winning ways beating Football Victoria Fitzroy, while Football West Cumbre beat Capital Football.

Football Victoria and Football Queensland Maroon lead the way in the AWD Mixed competition as both sides remain undefeated after Victoria recorded two impressive victories today against Football NSW Lightning and Football Queensland White, while Queensland Maroon beat Football NSW Thunder.

Tomorrow will see most sides complete their remaining pool stage games as the battle for Finals spots heat up. The first lot of matches get underway at 8:30am AEST, with eight matches to be live streamed.
